Shocking Confession in Pune Murder Case: Accused Allegedly Chose Killing Over Breaking Engagement
Pune murder investigation intensifies as Siya Goyal allegedly confesses to planning the killing of Ketan Agarwal with Chetan Chaudhary. Police probe conspiracy, digital evidence, and 2,000+ call records, while questioning family members and marriage arrangers in the Lohagad Fort cliff death case.
Ketan Agarwal, a real estate professional, died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Investigators have alleged that Siya Goyal, along with her partner Chetan Chaudhary, planned the act as she did not wish to proceed with her engagement scheduled for November. Authorities believe the incident was not accidental but a coordinated act of murder.
During questioning, Goyal reportedly stated that killing Agarwal felt “easier” than confronting her family and calling off the wedding. Sources within Pune Rural Police further stated that she admitted she chose to eliminate her would-be husband rather than break the engagement, citing reluctance to cause emotional distress to her family.
The investigation has now been escalated with six dedicated teams formed by Pune Police and Lonavala Police to examine all aspects of the case. Goyal’s parents are currently being questioned at Lonavala City Police Station. Her brother, Sahil Goyal, has also been interrogated for a second time as part of the expanding probe.
During a ten-hour interrogation, Sahil Goyal stated that he was aware of Chetan Chaudhary and that his sister had met him during one of his cricket matches. According to police inputs, their relationship developed further after they attended a common acquaintance’s Diwali gathering last year.
Investigators have also revealed that call detail records indicate more than 2,000 calls exchanged between Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary since January, amounting to approximately 238 hours of communication. However, Goyal’s parents have denied any contact or meetings with Chaudhary, while the accused’s legal counsel has described Chaudhary merely as a friend.
Police officials stated that they have established the involvement of both individuals in the alleged conspiracy and are currently working to retrieve deleted data from their mobile devices to strengthen evidence. In addition, investigators are questioning marriage arrangers who facilitated discussions between the two families to understand the circumstances leading to the proposed union.
The case continues to unfold as authorities attempt to piece together digital evidence and witness statements, with the alleged conspiracy raising serious concerns about premeditated intent behind the fatal incident.
